Graston Technique

Graston Technique

The Graston Technique is a form of instrument-assisted soft tissue therapy used to manage and treat various musculoskeletal injuries such as muscle strains, tendon injuries, planter fasciitis, and and chronic soft tissue restrictions. It involves the use of specialized stainless-steel tools that glide over the skin and help the practitioner detect areas of tightness, scar tissue, or restricted movement. Once identified, the toold are used with controlled pressure and specific movements to break down adhesions, promote blood flow, and increase range of motion. While the treatment may cause some temporary tenderness, it is generally well-tolerated and is often combined with stretching and other manual therapies.

At Avita Health in North Vancouver, chiropractor Dr. Rachel Rottger incorporates the Graston Technique into individualized treatment plans when appropriate. Dr. Rottger combines Graston with chiropractic adjustments, Active Release Technique (ART), corrective exercises, and patient education to help support long-term recovery.
